Juanabe Miami Band: Becoming the Soundtrack of Our Nights

When Juanito sings, even the silence dances.  -Wilson Alvarez

TL:DR – Juanabe, born from decades-long friendships and shared passion, grows more powerful with every performance. From Bayside beginnings to Hard Rock Live rooftops, they bring soulful harmonies, heartfelt energy, and a splash of Miami flair. They’re not just a cover band—they’re the Miami sound you didn’t know you needed.

A Miami Band Built on Musical Kinship

It was the last day of August 2025, and Juanabe lit up the pool deck at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida—and not just with music. While most expect early September to sizzle, that night felt different. The Miami summer finally eased its grip, and a warm breeze kissed the rooftop, which sits on the sixth floor, giving guests a sweeping view of city lights and cool night air. We arrived at 7:30 PM, expecting a smooth entry, but to our surprise, a lively crowd had already formed. The line stretched long, wrapping with anticipation—we didn’t get in until nearly 8:45 PM. Thankfully, we got there early enough to greet the band before the show. Spinning vinyl gold before Juanabe took the stage was legendary DJ Alex Gutierrez, setting the tone with an expertly curated ’80s mix that bounced from rock classics to disco grooves. It wasn’t just a concert—it was a full-on retro rooftop party, a perfect blend of Miami nostalgia and timeless fun.

The Juanabe story starts in 1992 at Bayside. Juan Ito and Luis “LB” Beyra connected through friend and keyboardist Randy Suarez. They jammed in their early 20s and formed Air Radio, an alt-rock group featuring future Juanabe drummer, Félix Rodriguez.

After Air Radio ended, Juan moved on to Franklin’s Wheel, a Santana-style project. Later, he and LB circled back to the idea of creating something new—with Félix. That’s when guitarist Albert Fortes came in. When they needed keyboards, they turned to longtime friend Robert Gonzalez, who joined along with Lu Lopez, his bandmate from Latin Groove. Suddenly, the “Frankenstein’s band” of talented “monstruos” was born.

Robert soon took the helm as music director and, with Lu, designed the ’80s medleys that define Juanabe’s live sound.

Live Where It Counts: Miami’s Stages

  • Hard Rock Live rooftop (Aug 30) – Juanabe lit up the skyline and hearts. It was a night Miami still talks about.

  • Gilbert’s, Key Largo – Sunset sets with ocean breeze and pure joy.

  • Bougainvilleas, South Miami – Bold venues, bold tunes, unforgettable mood.

  • Bar Nancy, Little Havana – Intimate, edgy, alive—pure magic.

They don’t just play the crowd—they transform the space.

The Sound & The Soul Behind Juanabe

This band delivers:

Mid-Blog: Famous Quote Reference

As Christian Louboutin famously said,

“A shoe is not only a design, but it’s a part of your body language.”

That’s exactly what Juanito’s Chucks do—they talk, even when he’s quiet. I have my pair with orange laces. Do you?

The Chuck Taylor Signature

Juanito’s black Converse low-tops with orange laces are more than footwear—they’ve become a visual signature of Juanabe’s identity. His love for orange finesse brings a dose of nostalgia and rebellion.

In reply, I wear all-black mid-top Chucks in tribute—a subtle nod to the band’s legacy and style.

Chucks, once on basketball courts, evolved into rock’s staple and symbol of rebellion—from the punk scene to grunge icons like Kurt Cobain.

Juanabe is more than a band. They are a shared heartbeat, a Miami tradition, a celebration of journey and sound. Whether you’re dancing at the rooftop or sipping mojitos with their tunes in the background, Juanabe gives music meaning again.
